Older Persons Legal Clinic

A free legal clinic to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society – older people was launched with the NSW Attorney General, The Hon. Mark Speakman SC MP.


Established by the University’s Newcastle Law School, the Older Persons Legal Clinic offers free legal advice for older people on a range of issues including:

  • financial abuse
  • dispute with neighbours
  • advanced care directives
  • wills
  • powers of attorney
  • enduring guardians
  • tenancy disputes.


The clinic, which usually operates face-to-face appointment from the ATO in Gosford, has adapted to a phone-based service to improve accessibility during COVID-19 restrictions.

The University of Newcastle also operates a clinic in Newcastle with face-to-face appointments available on Wednesdays at the University’s Nuspace campus.
