Retirement living leader takes home top property prize

Cranbrook Care has taken home one of Australia’s top property prizes for a development that redefines retirement living in Sydney’s Hills District.

Cranbrook Care was presented with the Aurex Group Award for Best Retirement Living Development at the Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards in Sydney this evening.

Bella Vista Gardens Aged Care and Cranbrook Residences Retirement Village are premium co-located facilities in Castle Hill. The development, which consists of 50 apartments and a 142-bed residential aged care facility, overlooks the Castle Hill Country Club and Golf Course.

“Retirement villages support the universal desire of older Australians to stay independent and engaged in the community,” says the Property Council’s Chief Executive, Ken Morrison.

“Cranbrook Care’s architecturally-designed community offers the highest quality design and finishes, exceptional facilities and outstanding services.

“This carefully-considered development demonstrates how the property industry continues to innovate to offer older Australians all the comforts of home in a personalised and caring environment.”

The boutique retirement village of 50, one, two and three bedroom apartments across five, three storey buildings plus basement carpark, are designed around the golf course and pond to provide privacy and views.

The easily-accessed community hub features a café and bar, cinema, library, fitness centre and art room. Also on-site and shared with the 142 bed aged care residence are a village green, hair and beauty salon, hydrotherapy pool and gym.

“We need to increase the amount of purpose-built housing we provide to support the 8.1 million Australians who will be over 65 by 2050, and to ensure they have the choice, independence and autonomy they expect and deserve,” Mr Morrison concludes.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present the Innovation & Excellence Awards program since its inception in 1982.

Award winners were announced on Friday 17 May at a gala dinner at the International Convention Centre Sydney. A full list of winners is available online:
