Honouring Victoria’s inspiring seniors

Victorians are being encouraged to recognise the contributions made to the community by seniors and organisations by nominating people for the Victorian Senior of the Year Awards.

Nominations are open today for the awards that highlight the role of seniors who inspire others as mentors, educators, role models, leaders or others who make a great contribution.

Categories include the:

  • Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year
  • Promotion of Multiculturalism Award
  • Healthy and Active Living Award
  • Veteran Community Award
  • Council on the Ageing Victoria Senior Achiever Award
  • Age-Friendly Victoria Award.

Last year’s awards honoured a long volunteer contribution in the Yarra Ranges and Cardinia communities, a Peek Whurrong Elder and a tireless advocate for the LGBTI community.

The University of the Third Age Network Victoria received the Age-Friendly Victoria award for its efforts to support older people at all levels of the organisation.

The 2019 award recipients will be honoured at a ceremony at Government House as part of the 37th Victorian Seniors Festival this October.

Nominations are open until 5 July 2019.
